Tom Betts is a visual artist from Salt Lake City, Utah. He is nationally recognized for his paintings in oil reflecting the subtleties he perceives in life through elegant attention to detail and realism. His oil painting process has a traditional approach exhibiting a complex understanding of color, contrast and medium from a skilled stillness of application. The mysteries locked in a moment of existence drive his passion to understand and negotiate the many levels of human observation. His visual dialogue forgoes an overt social aesthetic to experience and represent a graceful one.
His work has been featured in Southwest Art Magazine, in the Artists for the New Century Show at the Bennington Center for the Arts, on Park City Mountain Morning News and in the Western Humanities Review. His art is currently featured at the Thomas Anthony Gallery in Park City, Utah, the Wally Workman Gallery in Austin, Texas and at Dawson Cole Fine Art in Laguna Beach, California. Betts is an associate instructor of painting and drawing at the University of Utah.
